Wiring method for terminal distribution box

The wiring of a distribution box terminal involves connecting incoming power lines to the main terminals, distributing them through circuit breakers, and properly connecting outgoing circuits with correct color coding and grounding.

Incoming Line Connection

The incoming power line typically uses a five-wire system for three-phase distribution: three phase lines (A, B, C), one neutral line, and one ground line. Phase lines are usually color-coded yellow, green, and red; the neutral line is light blue, and the ground line is yellow with green stripes. For single-phase 220V loads, connect one phase line, one neutral, and one ground.

For three-phase 380V loads, connect all three phase lines, neutral, and ground. The incoming line is usually connected to the main circuit breaker or air switch, while the neutral and ground wires are pressed onto their respective terminal blocks.

Circuit Breaker and Outgoing Connections

Install circuit breakers according to the load requirements. Each outgoing circuit wire should be connected to its corresponding breaker. For lighting or small appliances, a single-phase line plus neutral and ground is sufficient.

For heavy machinery or motors, use three-phase connections with grounding. Ensure that all wires are securely tightened to prevent loose connections, which can cause overheating or short circuits.

Terminal Wiring Procedure

Prepare wires by stripping insulation to expose the conductor. Connect line to line terminal, neutral to neutral terminal, and ground to ground terminal. Tighten screws or press wires firmly using a wire stripper to ensure a secure connection.

Label each circuit for easy identification and future maintenance.

Safety and Verification

Always turn off the main power before wiring. Use a multimeter to verify connections and check for short circuits. Ensure proper insulation and avoid overloading circuits.

Maintain neat wiring inside the enclosure, leaving space for heat dissipation. Following these steps ensures a safe, efficient, and code-compliant distribution box installation, suitable for both residential and industrial applications.
