Which router is best to connect a fiber optic cable to

For fiber optic internet, routers that support Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 7 and multi-gigabit speeds are recommended, such as the NETGEAR Nighthawk RS700S, ASUS RT-BE96U, and TP-Link Archer AX6000.

Key Considerations for Fiber Routers

Speed and Standards: Choose a router that supports Wi-Fi 6 (AX) or Wi-Fi 7 to fully utilize fiber speeds, especially for plans 1 Gbps and higher.

Multi-

Gigabit Support: Ensure the router has multi-gig Ethernet ports or LAN aggregation to handle high-speed wired connections. Coverage and Range: Select a router with sufficient range for your home or office. Tri-band routers or mesh systems can cover larger areas without dead zones.

Device Capacity: Consider routers that can handle multiple devices simultaneously, particularly for smart homes or offices with many connected devices. Security Features: Look for routers with built-in security suites, such as NETGEAR Armor, to protect against malware and hacking. Recommended RoutersNETGEAR Nighthawk Tri-Band WiFi 7 Router (RS700S): Supports Wi-Fi 7, multi-gig speeds, 8 internal antennas, and coverage up to 3,500 sq. ft.

Ideal for gaming, streaming, and business use.

ASU

S RT-BE96U: Wi-Fi 7 tri-band router with dual 10 Gbps WAN/LAN ports and four 2. 5G ports, suitable for multi-gig fiber plans and NAS setups. TP-Link Archer AX6000: Wi-Fi 6 router with high-speed capabilities, strong coverage, and advanced features for fiber users.

Google Nest Wi-

Fi: Best for ease of use and smart home integration, providing reliable coverage for medium-sized homes. Linksys Velop AX4200: Mesh system ideal for whole-home coverage without dead zones. Connecting Fiber to a RouterTo use a wireless router with fiber optic internet, you need a fiber optic modem or Optical Network Terminal (ONT) provided by your ISP.

The ON

T converts the fiber signal into an Ethernet connection, which is then connected to the router's WAN port. The router can then distribute the internet wirelessly or via wired connections to your devices. Choosing the right router ensures you can fully leverage the speed, low latency, and reliability of fiber optic internet for streaming, gaming, remote work, and smart home devices.
