A CCT

V power distribution box, also called a power supply box, is designed to manage the power for multiple security cameras from a central point, usually near the DVR or NVR. Instead of using individual adapters for each camera, all camera power cables are connected to the distribution box, which then plugs into a standard AC outlet, simplifying installation and reducing cable clutter.

Key Features

Voltage and Current Options: Most boxes provide 12V DC or 24V AC outputs. Amperage varies by model, commonly 5A, 10A, 20A, or higher, depending on the number of cameras and whether they have infrared LEDs. Number of Channels: Boxes are available in 4, 8, 9, 16, 18, 24, or 32 channels, with each channel having positive and negative terminals for individual camera connections.

Safety Features: Modern boxes use PTC auto-reset fuses to protect each camera from overcurrent, eliminating the need for one-time fuses. Enclosure: Typically housed in a lockable metal box to prevent tampering and ensure safety.

Installation

Mount the box near the DVR or NVR. Connect each camera's power cable to the corresponding terminal inside the box. Plug the box into a standard AC outlet.

No electrician is required; the process is straightforward and suitable for both home and professional installations.

Choosing the Right Box

Small setups: 4–9 port boxes with 5–10A output are sufficient for standard cameras without infrared. Larger setups or IR cameras: 18–32 port boxes with 10–20A output are recommended to handle higher power demands and longer cable runs. Long cable runs: For distances over 300 feet, a 24V AC box with 24V to 12V converters may be used to maintain voltage stability.
